How Do We Work?

BTG doesn't operate a membership based system. Instead, we invite anyone to audition for any of our shows that they are eligible for. The amount of shows we put on per year varies, so keep an eye on our social media or sign up to our mailing list to be informed of audition dates and show information.

Who Are We?

Formed by the late Mavis Ward on 2nd May 1968, Brighton Theatre Group (BTG) has for over forty years provided musical theatre to the city of Brighton & Hove and is now one of the most respected companies on the South Coast of England. Today BTG benefits greatly from the talents of its company members be they performing, technical or production and is managed by a dedicated team of people.

The subsidiary company BTG Youth is a highly successful youth production company giving musical theatre experience to those aged between 7 – 18 years as well as being the lifeblood of the main company. The company is a registered charity with all income sourced through production sales, members subscriptions and sponsorship where available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can audition?

Anyone! We don't have a membership system, so as long as you meet our age requirements for each specific show, come and audition!

When do you rehearse?

We rehearse on Tuesdays (evenings), Wednesdays (evenings) and (some) Sundays (afternoons).

How do I audition?

Before every show, we hold a Show Meeting, where you can come along, meet the team and hear about the plans and logistics for the show. Afterwards, we will send out an Audition Pack, detailing key dates and information. You can then fill out an audition form online and come and audition!

Do you do Youth shows?

Yes! We have a Youth Company that runs along side the main company. We sometimes put on Youth productions (age requirements will vary depending on the show), alongside our adult shows. We often put on mixed shows that feature Youth and Adult performers.

How strict are the age requirements?

Due to licensing, we are very strict on age limits for our shows. If we require a Youth performer to be 8 years old, they must be 8 years old for the audition and under 14 years old for the show.

Can I join BTG at any time?

As we don't offer a membership, you can only join a production during the audition process. This means there may be a large period of time whilst we rehearse that you will be unable to join. But, keep an eye on our website and socials and be sure to audition when the next show is announced!
